Tsinghua-UTokyo collaboration- FIAVAW on the China Space Station

The Tsinghua-UTokyo collaborative project- FIAVAW, solicitated by the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs for the China Space Station experiments, has moved into the implementation scheme phase. While the primary investigators from both Tsinghua (Yu Cheng Liu, PI) and UTokyo (Shinji Nakaya. co-PI) have prior experiences with space station experiments, the joint team takes initiative to understand the flame oscillation with minimal gravity effects using special optical techniqes and image analysis. The project includes ground-based and space-based experiments as well as detailed numerical simulation and theory development.
