Modeling of OH PLIF detonation imaging with vertical orientation of the laser sheet

Planar laser-induced fluorescence of hydroxyl radical (OH-PLIF) is a powerful technique to visualize the reaction zone of detonation waves. In a previous study, a PLIF model was used to post-process numerical simulations of detonation. This work shed light on the main limitations of this imaging technique when using incident laser light propagating opposite to the detonation wave. In the present study, we focus on a different configuration, that in which the laser light propagates perpendicular to the direction of detonation propagation. This study is a collaboration with Pr. S. Xu at Tsinghua University, Pr. D. Lacoste and Dr K. Chatelain at KAUST, and Dr J. Melguizo-Gavilanes at Institut Pprime (CNRS-Poitiers).
